FAQs

Who are ?

MIJ is a combined effort between three of us; Martin Henry, Ian Bray and Jon Davies, along with a few much appreciated helpers. Although we are relatively new to race organising, we’re not new to the downhill scence, having 25 years involvement in the sport between us. 2009 was our first season, and by all accounts was well received, and we hope to build on that for an even more successful 2010.

Is body armour compulsary for your races?

No, it isn’t, but we would like to request that all riders make full use of body armour where possible. As many people will know there have been a few incidents recently, one of which has been to someone very close to us at MIJ and our friends. Get well soon Tom.

Whilst we do not want to make it mandatory, we do strongly advise the use of body armour, spine boards and – if you have one – a neck brace. The SDA have made body armour compulsory, we are relying on the common sense of our entrants.

Do your races carry BC ranking points?

Yes. All of our 2010 events are Regional-A category which means that each category winner will get 40 points for 1st, down to 1 point for 40th.

Do I need a British Cycling race licence to enter the races?

No you don’t. You can only score BC ranking points if you have a licence, but there’s no requirement to have one to enter the races.

Can I ride Taff Buggy outside of scheduled events?

Regrettably not, it’s private land and anyone riding there outside of events runs the risk of causing us to lose the venue. We do organise some uplifts as well as races if racing isn’t your thing.
